    Thanks for your opinion , but can you please tell me the different between the planner and the sheduler? and whats the problem if l have the concept of project managment and how to plan in some field (software) , and lm working in another field ( MEP) . l think if lm understand the concept of planning and analysis very well l can fit my self where ever l want , because its a matter of how to manage and how to think not how much technical your are powerful !

    Hi Dina;
    the planner take care about the project planning process making visions ,method statements ,master schedule ,delay analysis and claims for delays ,preparing contractual letters, preparing reports and presentation ,preparing the tasks and activities for scheduler attend meetings and discuss about all project aspects and he can make schedule of work .the planner should be a discipline engineer in the same field he making the planning process and he can use a lot of technique to keep planning process in continuing such as CPM and EV technique and others because he should make control and monitoring for the target projects .while the scheduler just concern about the schedule by preparing start and finish date through CPM technique .So, the scheduler have apart of the work of the planner .
    May be some project have planner and scheduler in the same time.

    Off curse, if you have the concept of planning you can deal with project planning process but to make plans or schedules for complicated and huge projects you should have a visions to help you to doing the proper planning work .but this visions need education back ground (to be discipline in the field ) the knowledge not enough.

    With Kindest Regards

    So is that mean l have to quite from construction field to software field ?

    Even if l have been trained and learned all what you mentioned regarding the planning engineer responsibilities ( delay report , earned value, etc….)???

    The second point is l found a planning manager who has an architecture engineering degree, and he was involved in a software project !!

    in my opinion the planner can plan for any thing , because its important to know the best way of how to make the plan ( time, resource and cost ), plus what l have seen in my practical life from senior planning engineers or planning engineers ( civil or MEP background ) who’s suppose to prepare the perfect project plan because they have the technical knowledge , and l realized that they may do a good plan from technical view , but they are not doing in the right way of the planning , what l mean they not following the planning stand red probably !

    thanks
