In traditional approach, engineer have to wait long to understand the major factors that cause the defects and finally control it. In this work, a fuzzy system approach will be used to minimize the convexity, crack, impurities and surface defects. Providing the most important factors controlling the process are known. Using fuzzy subtractive clustering based system identification and Sugeno type fuzzy inference system are used to model the defects of the ceramic tiles in three the stages of production (preparation, pressing, and firing) to develop a better understanding of the effect of each stage factors on the quality of the produced ceramic tiles. Tile production data will be collected for the preparation stage, pressing stage, and firing stage. Therefore, in the first stage viscosity, fineness, density, and milling hour, in the second stage Tile temperature, tile moisture, and tile thickness, and in the third stage humidity, width shrinkage, water absorption will be considered. All the previously mentioned factors will be identified as input data while Defects of the ceramic tile are the output of the process. The model building process will be carried out by using fuzzy subtracting clustering based system identification in both input and output space. The developed fuzzy logic model can be used to predict the influence of a given set of inputs on the value of specific defect. The model is verified by using further experimentation different sets of inputs. This study deals with the experimental results that obtained during ceramic tile production in International Ceramic Industrial Company.
