Grade 4-6-There are quite a few books for children on this subject, such as David Macaulay's Pyramid (Houghton, 1975), George Hart's Ancient Egypt (Harcourt, 1989), and Jacqueline Morley's An Egyptian Pyramid (Peter Bedrick, 1991), but most of them use drawings as illustrations, whereas Putnam's has full-color photographs. The best coverage is given to Egyptian tombs, but pyramids in Nubia, Mexico, and Central America are also described. In addition to sharing information on what is known about the Egyptian pyramids, Putnam also mentions unsolved riddles about them, such as how many workers built them, how the stones were moved, etc. Occasionally, the author makes conjectures about why things were done or how people felt. The information here is similar to that found in the titles mentioned above, but the photo-essay format is a novelty.

Scientific developments in the 20th century, however, have shown that designs in creatures cannot be attributed to "gradual development." Living bodies consist of organs made up of intricate components, the absence of even one of which would render that organ useless. Even these "irreducibly complex" organs alone clearly prove that life cannot be accounted for by natural causes but was flawlessly created by God.

A very good explanation of the Koran with references from hadiths and incidents pertaining to the revelation of different ayats. I happened to read some pieces from the tafsir by the famous maulana maududi but this one seemed better for two reasons: firstly, because of the depth of the material (this one has 10 volumes while the other one has 2), and secondly because maududi wrote his tafsir initially in urdu (which i guess is widely read in countries like Pakistan) which hasn't been translated well into english.
You can also check out this website: www.tafsir.com which has all the volumes online.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read the translation of the Koran and different background stories about different ayats. But keep in mind that it is an extensive explanation so take as much time as you want to absorb the material. I finished reading half of it when i realized that I need a break before I can read the other half. Overall, a very good volume set for people who want to understand the Koran
